Pyongtaek Protesters at it again!

They are like roaches! I have a feeling the local businesses are not happy.

Quote:
South Korean authorities were bracing for “fierce violence” in Pyeongtaek this weekend during rallies by thousands of demonstrators opposing the planned expansion of Camp Humphreys, the nation’s top police official said.

Some 20,000 protesters from various locations were set to hold two major rallies, Saturday in Seoul, and Sunday in Pyeongtaek, police and South Korean government officials have said.

The protesters oppose a South Korean-U.S. agreement that calls for U.S. forces to relocate from Seoul and points north to Camp Humphreys, which eventually would triple in size and become the peninsula’s primary U.S. military installation.

Saturday’s demonstration was planned for 3 p.m. in Seoul’s Gwangwhamun district, said the Korean National Police agency.

Protest

Don't know if there was any protest actually held in Gwang Hwa Mun or not.
There was a Protest scheduled outside MND (Ministry of National Defense) right by the war Memorial near gates 5 and 10 in Yongsan. It was scheduled for Saturday, 4 to 6 PM. We drove on Post at 4PM, and didn't notice anything except a few KNP's working the traffic lights. We went to the commissary and the PX, and drove home after 7PM. We saw some buses
parked down from gate 10, probably some extra KNP guards, but no disturbance, violent or otherwise.
From what I have seen in Seoul, Seoulites don't really care much about any Protest unless it screws up the traffic and makes them late for supper. On TV, some college kids wrapped some bandannas around their head and posed for the cameras.
