The biggest thing is he needs to work/talk with the realitor, I had my APT 5 days before my family got here rent free. Just tell them that you want an apartment ready when your family get here and don't want to stay in a hotel.

Depends on how far you want to walk? There are nice APT's if you go out the walk through gate and take a left about 3/4 of a mile.

More people will chime in here soon....

Re: ? about my move

There are a lot of nice apartments around here. Tell your husband to get some recommendations for a realtor and then to look at at least 5 apartments. Kim's is a popular realtor here, we used Han Shin and like their service. Even going to two different realtors and have them show your husband apartments would be a good idea. I recommend telling the realtor you want an apartment within a 10 minute walk to the gate. Others things to keep in mind, will it be noisy here like near a bar, is it close to a #20 bus stop(if you'll be riding the bus a lot), is it close to a trash collection site. Also, know that cable and internet being included in the rent is common. Getting a few bottles of water free is common too. A lot of apartments are furnished but be sure to ask for extra clothes cabinets if you need them. In fact, some of the landlords will give you almost whatever you ask for. One told me to just make a list of what I wanted and he would get it. So if you're interested in an apartment and the landlord isn't offering any of these things, just remember that there are plenty others who will. As for getting the apartment a few days before you arrive. I haven't heard of anyone not being able to do this. I know they gave my husband the keys to the apartment a few days before even though the lease didn't officially start yet.
