Question Medical care

How is medical care for the noncommand sponsored spouses? I have gastrointestinal problems and was wondering. Someone said that I had to give up my tricare prime and drop down to tricare standard and I would have to pay upfront before I would be treated. Would I be able to make appts? What if I got sick? I need some help understanding this. Thanks.

Re: Medical care

Yes, you will be dropped down to standard. You can still make appointments, and still be seen, even if it is an emergency. You only pay up-front if you are sent to a Korean Hospital.

The only real time you WILL see a difference is in the dental area, then you will have to go downtown, or Osan..

Re: Medical care

I get appointments easier than my husband does. He'll call to make an appointment and it takes 2 weeks to be seen. All the times I have called to make an appointment, I was either seen that day or within 3 days. They do have an emergency clinic that is open 24 hours, so if it's an emergency you can be seen right away.
