No more AFN

Well, it looks like the cable company here finally stopped broadcasting AFN Prime. The channel that was Prime is now Nick Jr. Now we have to decide if it's worth getting the satellite when we only have 90 something days left here.

Thank you. I know I have a bias opinion, but I think so too.

Re: No more AFN

Just get a Slingbox and have someone in the USA hook it up for you, then you can use it when you get back too or sell it to someone else. At least it gives you options that do not involve that BS monopoly AAFES has over there!

Where do you get a Slingbox from? Is it something I can get at the BX or does some one in the States have to buy it? Once I have one, I can take it with me and use it wherever I live next right?

I'm so irratated that there's no more AFN.

Re: No more AFN

The PX sells them, and actually you could use it in Korea and just have someone with an AFN decoder plug it in at their place (perhaps you could split the bill). Yes you can take it with you wherever you go, or leave it someplace that you know will always be running (mine is at my father-in-law's house in Texas) so that you can get TV whenever you want it.

If you hooked it up in Korea, you would not need to worry about a DVR, but if you hook it up in the states I would HIGHLY recommend getting a DVR to go with it so that you can time delay all of the prime time stuff and actually enjoy watching TV instead of getting all of the weird infomercials due to the time difference.

If you would like to view my Slingbox just so you can see what it is like, let me know. I do not have a DVR on mine, and that is why I am telling you to get one... I learned the hard way!

Re: No more AFN

I just don't have anyone back in the states with a decent internet hook up. My dad still has dial-up.
