Just wondering

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some cheap baby
products such as a walker, high chair, tummy time playmats. Things of
that nature. If you know of someone who is trying to get rid of this
stuff, I would definitely take it. And if anyone has kids between the
ages of 2 and 4, my son would definitely like to have a playmate. We
are new here and we don't really know anyone. Email me if you know
anything. Thanks. Mandi

And do you know of any other groups of military wifes here in Korea. I am trying to make friends but really do not know how. Also my son needs friends and I don't know how to keep him busy inside all day. He is going to drive me crazy. :-)
Thanks.

I''ll bet that there are kids in your apartment area. Just go out to a park or the parking lot and you'll find friends his age. Just turn him loose on the playground and he will know what to do. Korean kids don't normally play rough, and they will be curious to play with him. 4 year olds have no problem with a language barrier. You need to be more trusting- kids and parents in Korea have no fear of child molesters or kidnappers. They walk the street all over town during the day. Traffic is the only thing to fear. Try it.

I'd like to recommend 'nearlywild' as your new friend. It is her ID in here forum. I think she is a very nice person althouhg I have never meet with her.
I believe that she will help you and she will make the military wifes community in Korea because she is very clever and she is knowing a lot of things about Korea and Koreans.
Good luck and welcome to Korea !

For baby items be sure to check out the thrift shop on post.

The Painted Door Thrift and Gift Shop is located at Bldg.
309 on Humphreys.
Effective 1 Mar 2008, hours of operation:
Tuesday & *Thursday from 10 – 2
Pay Day Saturdays from 10 – 2

Play group is every monday and friday 1000-1200. As far as I know it's still in the CYS building (#570) if you want to call and check first the number is 753-8507. There was also a play group that was started at the chapel on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:00. I've never been to that one though so I can't help you much on that. I know it just started a little over a month ago. The woman who runs it is very nice. Her name is Sarah.

As far as friends, you will obviously meet a lot of moms if you go to play group. Also, the weather is getting warmer so you'll see more people start riding the buses again. I met a lot of friends while waiting at the bus stop. Just strike up a conversation. Hope that helps!

Re: Just wondering

The thrift store at Osan is really good too. They have a fair amount of kids clothes, toys, etc. I'm not sure of the hours though.

I went to the play group at the CYS probably 3 months ago and no one else showed up. But it's always worth a try I guess. The play group at the church is wonderful - I would recommend it.

There is also the United Club which is for spouses. Again, I can't remember when they have meetings. They are held once a month; there are usually fliers posted though and you might receive an email if gave your email to COL D's wife.
