[Lost Nomad] Anjeong-ri Residents Put Themselves Off-Limits - Again

Published: Tue, 27 Jun 2006 01:40:07 +0000

Here we go again… I guess the local residents and officials at the base are not seeing eye-to-eye once again. This morning there were some less than flattering signs strung up above the ville lambasting the CP Humphreys commander.Â*Every bar establishment has an apology letter taped to their door explaining they are closed because they [...]

Mr. Joe is on a distinguished road
Cool ARMY take Lessons from Osan AFB? Why Not?

Years of experience, both good and bad, went into the community relationship at Osan. Right now, I hear it is very good.

Poor Col. Taliento at Humphreys wants harmony; maybe he just doesn't have the technique that the Osan Commander does? It couldn't do any harm for the Army to meet with the Air Force, and maybe learn a few things about community relations, troop morale, and even how to deal with their people in general! Anytime a commander uses his power to put bars off limits, not for human trafficking, but underage drinking, it tells me that HE has lost control of HIS people, and should look at himself as contributing to the problem. The bar owners should not be asked to enforce laws other than Korean laws. Carding Americans only, which reduces their income? Use your common sense!Asking for assistance outside the gate means that there is a bigger problem within the gates.
(In fact, the Area III commander at Yongsan could use a lesson in troop morale, also. He is taking a big hit for stopping fireworks on this Fourth of July!
His reasoning was it caused a small fire at the elementary school last year.
Read more on our Yongsan entry.)
The Army has major problems controlling their young folks, and their methods of doing so need major overhauls. Talking with other services' leaders couldn't hurt!

Your right Mr Joe

The way I see it is that the AirForce takes much better care of their Soldiers than the Army does. Now that does not mean the AF guys dont get introuble but I believe not to the extent of the Army. The AirForce also IMO has a much higher level of people.
