Smile RE: Possible to go to Korea with my Military husband?

Thank you all who replied! I'm sure he found out he was going to Korea through his AKO account, also he was told in person. He is about to graduate from AIT and his rank is E-3... if that helps. I haven't looked at the link yet, but that's going to be my next stop.
A few questions... by meaning i can come out there does this just mean on my own dime? Just the airfare? What are the first steps i need to take in order to get out there? Is it difficult to get command sponsored? Command sponsored vs. non command sponsored? What about the Korean Assignment Incentive Plan? Iv'e heard that is another way i will be allowed out there.
Once again thank you!

Ah, the adventuresomeness of youth! Yeah, you can do it. Get a passport first, and be ready to put up with heat, humidity, and living and traveling in a country where most people don't understand English. There will be hardships and some confusion, but the girls on the forum will guide you. I will join them in recommending that you read the spouses in Korea forum first. It will take a couple of days to read. Then ask questions.
Yes, you pay for travel. You can fly over together if you explain you desire to the TMO right now! He will be reimbursed only the amount it would have cost them to fly him. Army E-3 probably has little or no chance of CS. Someone in the Army will advise you on that. Start saving money now.
Welcome to the forum. More advice will follow!

The rules regarding this stuff change every now and again, so my info might be dated...but I think the family members will be reimbursed for travel to the service member's point of embarkation from the US. In other words, if the soldier's last duty station in the US (probably for AIT in this case) is Ft Benning, GA, and the point of embarkation is Ft. Lewis, WA, the family members will get travel pay from wherever they are in the US to Ft. Lewis, WA.

And since she's a newbie ~ TMO = transportation office.
