Dimension E510
Intel Pentium D Processor 820 with Dual Core Technology (2.8 GHz)
1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
17 in (17 in viewable) E176FP Flat Panel Display
128MB ATI Hyper Memory PCI-Express X16 (DVI/VGA/TV out) Radeon X300 SE
80GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition,Service Pack 2,English
16X DVD+/-RW Drive
Intel Pro 100M Integrated PCI NIC Card
And all of the typical software that you get with a premade box.
Not too bad for $600!

And yeah, it's not a powerhouse, but I won't be doing much on it besides surfing, webcam to back home so I can watch the kiddo grow up, and basic media stuff.

Antec True 430W
MSI K8N Platinum Neo 4 (939 chip set)
AMD 64 3800+
Samsung 2Gb CAS II
ATI PCIE 64Mb Graphics card
Primary drive Raptor 36Gb
total storage 250Gb

With a passion for photography, I post process all my images in CS2. This is a weekly ritual.
The images I work with can be as large as 30Mb. What use to take me several seconds has been reduced to a blink of an eye, albeit sometimes a long blink<Bg>

I also develop routines for Access db's and Excel. I cannot even recall when the last time i even played solitare, let alone the serious 3d games.

With 500W PSU's you must be a serious gammer. Your choices were excellent though. Hopefully you build customer's sys w/quality PSU's. I found once I explained to the individuals who wanted a gamming machine the importance of a quality PSU they usually consented.

How are you able to get NewEgg to ship to an APO?

Computers are really fit to an individuals requirements.

BTW I only build systems now for friends and my own. A short list.

If you are running AMD there is a utility you can download on their website. I noticed some impressive gains once I installed it this past weekend.

Re: Anyone ever buy a Dell?

ummm you put in an APO address they mail to apo O.o, they put on a $11 surcharge so i try and not do little orders though. Depending on how i'm doing things i sometimes just order used stuff off of some forums. i love getting $200 ram for $130 ^^

E510 is the same thing i have sitting here for Chuck, little differnet configration though.

Re: Anyone ever buy a Dell?

It appears they have changed their policy. I admit it has been a couple years since I have tried to place an order. I have ordered from Mwave with excellent results.

Which reminds me to mention that Autozone does a pretty good job for American auto parts.

AAFES is way overpriced on a lot of their merchandise.

Re: Anyone ever buy a Dell?

gov has been buying dell for a long time, we're had dell desktops being pulled out that are 500mhz p3 slot ones.

how ever dell sells there desktops now and then stupidly cheap.... 50-60% off sorta things., people like you and me will love that but someone who owns stock will wonder how they are making money

Re: Anyone ever buy a Dell?

I would say that the PC technology worm is finally getting ready to do a substantial rollover again. All the good deals of the past couple years won't matter in two years because we will all want/need new machines again. Both Dell and Gateway have some good machines already with the new Intel duo processors, the extreme core duo processor seems to be the high end at this time. I will go with Gateway in the future because I found their sales staff easier to deal with than Dell. At any rate, if Microsoft hype can be believed and the new Vista OS will be substantially different than windows and with the new processors, prepare for our current machines to be pushed into the realm of antiques within the next two years.
