Re: [Computer] Do you know about Dual core CPU ?
Hi,
Dual-core CPUs are what you want to buy now. It means each CPUs is actually 2 CPUs on one chip base. I have a CoreDuo notebook, and I love it (CoreDuo is the first generation of the Core2Duo chip). My only regret is not waiting for the Core2Duo (mobile mermon), but I was in the US, and had to buy then and there. Having a dual-core chip means everything runs more smoothly, and I can run multiple applications at the same time (virus scan while burning a DVD while surfing) with little or no slow-downs. Currently, Intel has overtaken AMD as the fastest chip. And prices are not bad, either. Do you want a desktop? I suggest a Core 2 Duo chip from Intel. In fact, you can get a very affordable Intel 2.13ghz Core 2 Duo chip for about 200,000 won. Don't be fooled by the slower 2.13ghz numbers. That chip is faster than the older 3.2ghz Pentium 4! Here are some benchmarks for comparision: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...oc.aspx?i=2795 http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=2795&p=9 http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/07/...64/page12.html You might note that there isn't even much difference between a 2.13ghz core 2 duo and a much more expensive 2.4. So save your money and buy a better graphics card. There is even a slower 1.83ghz Core2Duo chip that's a real bargain. It's not even much slower, anyway, and is still as fast as an AMDx2 4200 dual core chip! I also suggest you get a 7200 speed hard drive with a 16meg buffer (unless you really want speed and want to RAID 2 drives together). That additional meg in the buffer really adds speed. Just be sure to avoid the old Intel dual-core (D) chips. They are nowhere near as fast, and not much cheaper! Last edited by Powershot : 09-10-2006 at 11:58 AM. |

You look like a computer profasional. by the way, I still confused about Dual core, CoreDuo, Core2Duo, AMD 64 X2. what's best nice CPU ? I will buy a desktop computer soon. so I need understanding for these CPUs. again thanks, Powershot ! |

Re: [Computer] Do you know about Dual core CPU ?
Price, AMD 3800 x2 939 since ram is cheaper for these.
for over all speed would be a Cornoe Core2 Duo. the ram for these are a lot more expensive do to the fact that they run a really high Front side bus, DDR2 1066 |

Re: [Computer] Do you know about Dual core CPU ?
If you buy soon, you will want to buy an Intel Core 2 Duo chip. I would suggest the 2.13ghz speed chip.
Here is a low-priced place to buy a computer: http://www.icoda.co.kr/i_product/pro...l?it_num=64462 I would recommend going there and looking, though. That online buying guide uses an ECS motherboard which doesn't accept very fast Ram speeds (only 533mhz). You could chose the faster Gigabyte motherboard and some better Ram. But go there and see for yourself. They are located in Youngsan. |

On another note, and a good one, tests have been done that prove it's not worth the money to spend a lot for lower-latency Ram on Core2Duo computers. They chip uses Ram a bit differently or something. |

Re: [Computer] Do you know about Dual core CPU ?
its always been that way, Intel wanted higher speed ram, AMD worked better with lower latancy because of the way the AMD cheap is made, this is the same reason why a chipset designed for 939 also works with AM2 and 754. because the memory controller is in the cheap.
How ever Motherboards and Ram is more expensive for an Intel machine, you can pick up a great AMD board for $60-70, i personally picked up one of my Biostar Tforce6100-939s for $40 (though it was used) and its an insane good board, get overclocker and budget board it really is about need though, seeing as hes stll only using a P3 800mhz system, i'm guessing his need isn't that great and the cheaper AMD system would be better for him. Cornoe is sitll too expensive and yes there is DDR2 1066 ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220161 though ya its not needed, but even the other DDR2 is more expneisve, i've been looking into a AM2 system for awile and the ram prices are just not at a reasonable price right now |

Re: [Computer] Do you know about Dual core CPU ?
Well, I disagree with you.
The link you provided for Ram was to a USA site, and 2 gigs of matched DDR2, as well. Everyone knows it's a lot more expensive to buy two 1 gig sticks of the fastest Ram speeds. He doesn't need 1066, so why bother? FYI, Intel is currently kicking AMD's butt in memory usage as well, due to Intel's newer memory architecture. Even not having an onboard memory controller, Intel's Conroe is mopping the floor with AMD in memory access and usage as well. AMD's technology is older, and won't be updated again for quite some time. AM2 is little more than a socket change for now. The Intel dual-cores are new, and totally blowing away everything AMD has out there. AMD's flagship CPU is ranked 4th behind three new Core 2 Duo models. What more does one have to say? I have no love for Intel over AMD, but i'm not too much of a fanboy either way to overlook the obvious. If I felt it were worth it, I would go with AMD. If I were buying a system 6 months ago, I would have. But AMD has been trumped big-time, and the entire computing world knows it (except for AMD fanboys who are too proud to admit defeat). Mr. Song, you don't have to take my word for it. Talk to any of your local Korean techs -- in Korean -- and they can tell you what's the best these days. |

Re: [Computer] Do you know about Dual core CPU ?
i agree that AMD isn't as fast. how ever, its ALOT cheaper, x2 3800+ $150, mobo is $50-60 and ram is $100ish
where as a cornoe at the lowest end is $200 cpu, 150ish for a mobo and 130ish for ram (i just bought 1gb of DDR2 533 the other day and cost $120) that means your spending $2-300 more for abit more extra speed, which is only needed for highend users/gamers |

Powershot ;
I'd like to know about the difference between Dual core and Core 2 Duo, AMD 64 X2. |
