Re: About AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+

Yup, the Pentium D 950 or 840. But if you are getting Intel CPU, you should consider getting the new Intel Core 2 Duo. Even the lower end Core 2 Duo can outperform the top AMD CPU in most benchmarks. Power consumption of the Core 2 Duo is also very low and in turn produce less heat, which mean if you are an overclocker, you can overclock the cpu to a much higher speed by just air-cool. If don't want to spend a lot of money and still want to get an Intel CPU, you can get the Intel 805. It is still a dual core cpu, and can be overclocked to 3.8Ghz air-cooled. If you have money to spend on the 4400+, get the Core 2 Duo E6400. Ofcourse the motherboard for the Core 2 Duo is priced a bit higher than the AMD motherboard.

Re: About AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+

a bit higher? that stupid 775 socket pushed the price of Intel boards up insanely high -.- still hate the 775.... just annoying. though i got to admit its nice not having to worry about bent pins anymore.

Moon, would you happen to know if a Asus P5WD2-premium is Conroe ready?

i'm pretty sure its not but i got one STUPIDLY cheap, ($40 because the guy was too lazy to RMA it ^^)

Re: About AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+

Taichan, I don't think that board is ready for Conroe. It is based on the 955 chipset. I think only the 965 and 975 intel chipset and the later Nvidia chipset motherboard support Conroe. I haven't found anyone that installed a Conroe in it. Officially, I know it doesn't support Conroe.

Shong, I am an American in Korea not teaching English lol. So guess what I do, hehe. I am a comp geek though. Just a hobby.
