Re: Core 2 Duo E6400 up and running

Yup heading back there for a month. Although I probably go to Fry's instead of order from Newegg, since I'll be in California. I'll probably buy more hard drives and bring them back here. I ran out of disk space once again. Got to love those animes and dramas.

Re: Core 2 Duo E6400 up and running

oh i know, i keep all my anime on drives i really would love a set of 750gb drives.

www.woot.com had refurbed 250gb sata drives for $50 yesterday, i really wante dto buy a set but i put it of and by the time i went the last 2 had been sold. like 3 seconds before i sent the send button.

and ya, newegg in cali means tax ;.; but then again fries does too, and i don't think a core 2 duo is cheaper at fries.

if your on a tight budget you can get a E6300 for $161 at newegg open box but still has a heatsink and warrenty

Re: Core 2 Duo E6400 up and running

Wow, that is some expensive RAM. LOL, I probably wouldn't want to get something that expensive. Really, the price/performance ratio of the RAM is too high for me. I just ordered 3 Seagate 400Gb hard drives for myself and 1 for my friend: 2 SATA and 2 PATA. Total price is around $407. Free shipping to California, but had to pay tax. I'll be bringing them back once I return. Oh yeah, this is from Outpost.

Re: Core 2 Duo E6400 up and running

good old frys

and no, the lower end Core 2 Duos are very dependand on ram when overclocking.

to make 3.2ghz you on a E6400 you need ram that will do DDR2 800

3.6 needs DDR2 900
4ghz needs DDR2 1000
4.4ghz needs ddr 1100 and a lot of luck
4.8 needs ddr2 1200 an insane ammount of luck

E6300 is even worse.

but 2gb DDR 800 cost $300 or more dollars... and it seems to get worse

Re: Core 2 Duo E6400 up and running

I will wait for the Quad Core's to come out before I build another computer. I am also waiting for a directX 10 video card. Problem with all that though, I will need at least a 600 to 800 watt power supply. The new video cards are rumored to be 400watts per card!!!! CPU at 120watts....

I currently have the BFG 7900GTX and that card is AWESOME! I can play Oblivion maxed out at 1920x1200 and it runs smoothly.

Re: Core 2 Duo E6400 up and running

umm, just so you know, the 4800 x2 is about 109watt cpu.

my Core 2 Duo is 65watt. (atleast it was... before overclocking)

Quadcore is a freaking gimic. and is going to be $1000 or more when it hits the market and not overclock as well do to heat in the cores.

amd i've been re encoding videos more thne gaming lately and the C2D just dropkicks the 3800+ i had for that

my issue with quadcore is the fact that most things aren't multithreaded yet, and i bet once they do they'll only run it for 2 threads not 3-4 so it will still be wasted tech
