Re: Have a Traditional Korean Meal!

The meat in the first picture looks like pig's feet but I am not sure.

Re: Have a Traditional Korean Meal!

I don't know how many of you had a chance to goto a place called Mapo, but there are a lot of amazing Korean BBQ places. The best kind of BBQ in Mapo area is the pork's skirtmeat(aka. Galmegi-Sal). Let me post some pictures for your better understanding. Just don't drool too much....

(Click on the images for larger pics)

Now, the skirtmeat looks like this. It's well marinated in sesami oil and some other ingredients. relatively sweet, but just about right in terms of sweetness.

You BBQ the Galmegi-Sal with lots of garlic and Kimchi on the side. You all know how to munch on Korean BBQ - wrap the meat with Korean lettuce along with garlic, miso paste and some chopped green onion. Tastes extra good.

Now, this place is unique as you can cook some eggs on the side as well. It's like on-site omlette.

Take trip down to Mapo at night around 0600pm. Get off at GongDuk subway Station, and walk out through the gate No. 8. You will see a tire shop in front of the exit. You walk around the tire shop to the back alley, and you will be greeted by Galmegi-Sal ajummas trying to invite you in. I personally like Pusan Galmegi-Sal place, but it's totally upto you to choose which one to go in. It will be an awesome dining experience. Oh...forgot to metion that you gotta chow down the meat with Soju, of course..
