Re: 101 Things to do in Korea
I would like to add a few of my favorites: BuYo, site of several huge graves, and a great museum.
Kongju, several graves and a great fortress with an outer wall that can be walked. Great for photos. Just south of Pyeongtaek, the tomb of Ye, Sun Shin, and further on (10 kms) HyungChoongsa, with one of the homes of the Ye family, plus a pretty park. Closer to Pyeongtaek, there are 2 small ranges of mountains, the closer range having a hiking trail up to a old fortress site, used for signaling. (On a clear day you can see Pyeongtaek, Chon-an, and On-yang. Second range of mts, there are 2 ruins of castles, about 2 kms apart.\ On the other side of On-yang there is a historic village,Oae-am-ri. Great for sightseeing and picnicing. |

Re: 101 Things to do in Korea (Seoul)
I like the I-park mall at Yongsan Station more than KOEX mall. It doesn't have the 3D theater or Aquarium, but I like the layout of the buildings and shops. Many of the restaurants have a view on the central promenade and they are building a Putt Putt Golf on the roof.
NamSan Tower park around sunset is great. You can get good Korean food at the restaurant on top of the Cable Car building and beautiful views of the city as the sun goes down without even going into the tower. Seonyudo Park and World Cup park are both nice, although Seonyudo is rather small. World Cup Park has tons of stuff to do, with playgrounds, fountains, wading streams bicycling paths, a golf course and other activities. There is a shopping center and movie theater inside the stadium complex. You can have a good time at any of these areas without spending any money, which is nice. |

Re: 101 Things to do in Korea
Just walk around the neighborhood. 1,000 new things you have never seen. Do a magic trick for some little kids. Try a new restaurant, for that matter, eat something you have never tried before.

Re: 101 Things to do in Korea
Maybe I'm a little late on the uptake....
How about Yoido Full Gospel Church and Prayer Mountain? I'm headed there next weekend and hoping that it is as spectacular as it sounds. ![]() |

Re: 101 Things to do in Korea
One of the titles Korea had several years ago was the Land of the Morning Calm. The country really lived up to the name. As it began to modernize it lost the title due to pollution and expansion. If you really are still interested in seeing the real beauty of Korea like many of the old school people I would highly encourage you to take a trip to the mountains outside of Seoul. If you start the climb before sunrise you will see that beauty. It is truly awesome. You may want to begin getting in shape for Seorak San. I am sure there will be trips to the #1 spot in October when the colors begin to change. I would recommend either a Stairmaster or placing the tread on a steep grade and walking. I can assure you there is a difference between running and hiking. It requires a different type of conditioning. Stretching is also very important since flexibility is real important in the mountains.
Most important enjoy the tour. You will find several friendly people in the mountains. I use to take candy for the kids I seen on the trail. TAKE YOUR CAMERA ALONG ![]()

Re: 101 Things to do in Korea
the first thing I'm going to do is figure out how I can get back to my 'Hometown' I will help out on the Kunsan/Gunsan things. If I missed Korea before I joined this forum, My longing has increased ten-fold. At Least I have plenty of kimchi and Som yap Sal (Pork Bellies) back here in Arizona.
