Shsong, you're going to turn into a potato!
I like the sweet potatoes in Korea - goguma. The turnip kimchi looks like raddish (moo) kimchi to me, but I'm no expert. I like all sorts of kimchi, and I really like that cucumber kimchi. I really like the salad that you get at the galbi restaurants. The sauce is a mix of vinegar, sugar and wasabi (hot mustard). There is also another kind of salad dressing that tastes like it is made with some kind of fruit - maybe pineapple? That's really good. Sometimes I like the boiled mini potatoes that are served with a sweet sauce. I can't eat too many though, because they're really sweet. I tried a delicious kind of dok (rice cake) the other day. Supposedly it is really popular in the spring, and they don't sell it at the dok stores. It was home made. I think it was called SukDok. It was made with a kind of green herb. Do any Koreans know what I mean? Shsong? It was delicious. Does anyone know if you can buy it made anywhere? |

I think the original question is referring to a side dish (known as "bahn chahn" in Korean), so I still go with the classic Kimchi. It simply rules! I especially love grilling it along with the meat (i.e Galbi or Sahmgyeopsahl).
I eat the others...like muuk(?)--that brownish, jello-like thing, tofu, those weird mayonnaise-like covered potato salad thingy, and a little of this and that...but I just favor Kimchi above all. |

Sshong, you would be surprised how many foreigners like kimchi. Many people do and many people don't. I have no problem with spicy food.
