Re: Dumb Questions
I've tried everything to get rid of that and it took forever to get rid of. I tried a coal deoderizer, they had them at the commissary, but I think the smell kind of went away n its own.

THE SMELL GETS BACK INSIDE THE AIR BLOWER FAN DUCTING AN ALL THROUGH THE REFRIG.
If a thorough cleaning doesn't work, tell your real estate agent. He can get the landlord to change it out. Wrap the bread in a sealed baggie. Ice cream too. |

Re: Dumb Questions
Does anyone know if there is a Greek food place downtown? Someone told me she thinks there was one down one of the alley ways, but wasn't really sure. If there is, do they have gyro's?

Re: Dumb Questions
Do they have the German style donor kebabs in Itaewon? I've never had them but my husband used to love them when he was in Germany. Is Itaewon within walking distance of Yongsan?

Re: Dumb Questions
We were at the bus station in Osan today. Two older Korean women (employees of Chili's apparently because of their shirts) came in for a little bit and when they were leaving one of them abruptly stopped at the vending machine. It seemed something had caught her eye. After going back to the bus ticket window she came back with a wad of one dollar bills. She bought 3 bottles of aspirin. About 5 minutes later a different older woman (also w/a Chili's shirt) came in w/a huge wad of ones. She purchased at least six bottles of aspirin. I was just wondering if it's just A LOT cheaper in the vending machine than off post or if it's one of those black market items. They looked like what I would imagine my kids looking like if someone opened up the vending machine and told them to take what they wanted!! Anyways, I was just curious

But for many decades, Koreans have been somewhat fascinated by foreign made products. And within that mindset, foreign made medicines hold a special place as being really special. Way back when, if you had a nice foreign made Japanese television, that meant one of two things: you were wealthy and had connections within the gov't or you bought it on the black market (and it probably originated from the PX). Owning foreign made products was not only nice because they were of higher quality ~ they also were a big status symbol. Of course, early on, it was mainly a matter of these kinds of products not being available in Korea because they couldn't afford them and there were strong trade barriers, so even if you did have the money, you couldn't get them. And then when the did start producing them domestically, the quality was very inferior to the foreign made versions. These days, virtually everything is produced domestically, and the quality is very good. However, in spite of this, the old mindset still remains, especially among the older Koreans. So when the need for an aspirin comes up, and one of these Koreans go to the medicine cabinet ~ they are going to chose the American made product. The Korean made product is probably just as good (or maybe even better) than the American made version ~ but that doesn't make much difference... because it doesn't fall in that special category of being "foreign made." I'm guessing it is your water. Try adding Boraxo to your soap in the wash/soak cycle if the commissary has it.
