Golf in Korea!

Weekend, I pull over my car in front of the lobby of the guest house and push the trunk button and let them take out my Mizuno caddie bag and Callaway cloth bag.
I drive my car into the park area and left the car key but pick up the Callaway bag at the caddie desk in front of the lobby.
I checked in at the front desk and received the locker key.
I take on golf shoes, cap and left my Callaway bag into my locker and go to the restaurant to take a breakfast or lunch with our players and chat for half an hour.
I stand on the practice green and test the green speed, stretching for 10 to 20 minutes.
We put 50,000won per each on the deposit to the caddie for skins game for fun.
After the 18 holes, I check up my clubs and make a signature on the caddie note book, and pay the caddie fee.
Back to my locker, I take off the pants, shirts and shoes other than inner wear.
I pick up the new inner wear and go to the powder room(public bath).
I take off the inner wear and put it in the basket on the shelves in the powder room and take a shower in the bath room.
After the bath, I take on the new inner wear and put the sweated inner wear into the vynile envelope and back to my locker.
I dressed up again and go to the restaurant again to have lunch or dinner together.
After the meal, we split the bill, it$)C!/s usually 1mil.won for 4 person including green fee(110~230,000won/person/18holes), cart fee(70~80,000won/team/18 holes) and meal charge but excluding caddie fee(80~120,000won/team/18 holes).
I used to pay 250~350,000won for 18 holes
I take my Callayway bag and pick up my car key at the caddie desk, and walk to my car.

This is the typical golf rounding sketch in Korea.
When I was invited at the Osan AB in 2004, I spend just 130,000won.(Green fee: 70,000, Meal for 4 person: 40,000, 2 carts: 20,000).
Oops! but my US Army friends working in Suwon AB pay 4,000won for beer after 18holes.
They told me that they just pay for yearly charge(about 400U$ in 2004), and unlimited rounding for 365days.
WoW!
Guys! Get there and enjoy your time!, Enjoy your weekend!
If I calculate the money, I can earn 3~4,000U$ per year if I can play there twice a month.(Bean counter; I!/m CPA)

Cool Re: Golf in Korea!

Wow! There is a reason I go fishing instead of playing golf!
Fishing gear, maybe $100.00 (one time), bait, Maybe $3.00, green fees $0. Korean fishing License $0. Shore Lunch cost $5 for drinks and condiments & oil to fry the fish! I've never gone to the stocked ponds with lounge chairs, or rented a boat, but even that can't be one tenth the price of golf!

Of course I would miss out on the underwear in the vinyl bag! I'd just go home smelly and take a shower free! I'm not a CPA. Maybe that's where I made my mistake!

But the golfing life sounds really good! In the U.S. my three cousins go nearly every weekend! I enjoy hearing your stories!

Re: Golf in Korea!

And just think... in spite of the costs ~ Korean women have practically taken over the world of women's professional golf.

Re: Golf in Korea!

Yes, Korean women earn a lot of money in US LPGA.
- Michell Wie(Korean-American) earned U$10Mio. in 2007
- Seri Pak's(Korean) accumulated earning from her debut in US LPGA tour was over U$10mio. in 2006.
