Yesterday afternoon as my teenage daughter was walking home from school, she was approached and nearly accosted by a local man. Luckily for her (and the whole family) we have some Korean neighbors who are home all day that she went to for help. They speak almost no English but seemed to understand and chased the man away so she could make it the rest of the way home. My question is, how do I possibly thank them? When I tried to express my grattitude through the police interpreter, she replied "all mothers are the same". Still I wish to give her and her husband a gift for this. What would be appropriate? They are an elderly farming couple (don't know if it makes a difference).

A fruit basket, or a nice piece of tender beef, well marbled, that would make bulkogi! No Korean can resist food.
Of course I would never advocate commissary food! Naturally you would present your gift in packaging from an off post/off base source. |

Re: proper thanks for neighbor
What an excellent idea! How about a tray of assorted meats-beef for bulkogi, short ribs for bbq and maybe some type of poultry? Would that be considered to extravagant??

Re: proper thanks for neighbor
Why not. Nothing wrong as long as it's a one time gift. I was told that you could give a big bottle of jack as long as it was a one time gift. I bought my GF's mom a nice necklace from the PX.
