Pungmi Kimchi factory tour
Yesterday we went on a free tour sponsored by Gyeonggi Province. One of the highlights was a tour of the Pungmi Food Company in Omokjeon-dong. They make different kinds of Korean sweets and also kimchi. Here are some pictures of the kimchi factory. At the end we got to make our own kimchi.

How was the Korean archery?

Re: Pungmi Kimchi factory tour
We watched a military reenactment at the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon. We stayed too long there, so we didn't have time to do the archery. The men performing in the reenactment did some archery and spear throwing. That was pretty impressive.

Re: Pungmi Kimchi factory tour
The kimchi is much better now than it was years ago.
Maybe more of it is factory made now so the standards are higher. There was a time when I wouldn't get within a mile of kimchi, now for the most part I like it. Maybe it's an age thing. Johnnie Rouse |

Re: Pungmi Kimchi factory tour
The founder of the company kept stressing how clean the place is and how they use only the best ingredients.

Re: Pungmi Kimchi factory tour
That’s good to hear.
The ingredients are all raw uncooked and it would be very easy to end up sick if not handled right. Johnnie Rouse |

Re: Pungmi Kimchi factory tour
Nearlywild,
The tour looks -cool-! :) I showed da mister the pics you posted of the military reenactment at the Fortress, and he went ga-ga! We do medieval reenactment, so he *loves* shots of armor,etc...and wanted me to thank you for the shots you posted, and ask if you had any more, you could possibly pm them to me, or upload them where he can go look at them? :) TIA! Dee :) |

Re: Pungmi Kimchi factory tour
Sure, no problem. I took a couple of videos too if you want to see them.
