Re: Favorite Korean side dish?
I agree that it's the side dishes that set the different restaurants apart. Sure some have better quality meat and that sets them apart too, but among the ones with higher quality meat, you gotta choose based on the sides!
My favorites have to be mushrooms, bean sprouts, and pancakes. And cucumber kimchi. I also like the greens with the spicy dressing (like at Nolbu). I craved kimchi when I was pregnant with my oldest. But this one doesn't seem to like it much so I have to stay away for now... You guys are making me hungry - stupid curfew!!! No time to go out and get some food! (Note - I'm not trying to switch this thread over to an anti-curfew thread; I'm just hungry LOL!) |

Re: Favorite Korean side dish?
I had a landlord in Chunchon, and his family would make kimchi all the time. They'd give me some every month. They were great people. When I left for Japan, my ex landlord now, told me I was like a son to him.
I had a landlord outside of the Hump, and after I had been gone a few years, I stopped by to see how she was doing. Her husband pasted away right before I had moved. She asked me to stay for dinner and thats when I tried the squid thats still squirming around on the plant. LOL. Tasted pretty good I thought. |
