What did you do for Chuseok?
Just curious to see if any of you did something "special" for Chuseok or if you just stayed on your normal routine. I did not do any of the traiditional stuff, but I did manage to get out with a friend of mine, and we visited the Deoksugung Palace as well as the Cheonggye stream. There were tons of people around and we saw a nice little show out in front of the palace which was followed by a sort of parade thru the palace grounds. The best part was that the palace was free all day long, and I am all about free stuff!
We also went to Seoul Tower (walked up from Seoul Station) and checked out the city at night which neither of us had done before. There was a band there and a zillion people, but once the band stopped things thinned out a bit. Oh yeah, we also checked out the art museum at the palace too, very interesting stuff in there! I think we probably walked 5-6 miles or so... I was kinda tired when I got home! The night before Chuseok (Thursday night) I was invited to hang out with the local VW/ Audi club. I am a big time VW enthusiast, and I have been talking to a few of these guys on a VW forum, but they are sort of a closed group so for me to be invited to a members meeting was something quite special indeed! We were out actin glike fools and driving at speeds WAY above the legal limit, but damn it was fun! We went to the Botnaical Garden, the parking lot by the Hyundai Shopping Center, and to the top of Pugak (not sure on that spelling) mountain. They are a great group of guys and they even gave me a "members only" t-shirt! If my command sponsorship gets approved I will surely join their club officially, but it was nice to be included as an honorary member, even if only for one night! |
