Korean Law, Children crossing the street
I did not realize this was a law in Korea.
When a child raises his/her hand and starts to cross the street, all traffic must stop to let the child pass.I generally see childen stand at a cross walk and wait untill all traffic is clear. Mike

Re: Korean Law, Children crossing the street
More specificily, it is the left arm. I have only seen 2 Korean children do this my entire time in Korea and they were both in Pusan area.

Re: Korean Law, Children crossing the street
I have seen this several times in Seoul... the big curve in front of the Hilton (near Namsam) has a crosswalk and I cringe every time I see a kid there because the cars are really flying as they come around that corner!

Re: Korean Law, Children crossing the street
I've seen this a lot around Osan, I used to live around an elementry school and which didn't have a really busy street. I don't think parents teach there kids this that much since they don't want them to jump out into the middle of the road without looking thinking that their left arm will make them invincible.
I also do this when I'm walking with my wife, it embaresses her pretty good. |
