Temple Stay

I picked up 3 ladies( 2 canadians, 1 Koreans) around 7 a.m at Yangjae subway station and left Seoul to Samhwa temple located in Donghae city, Kangwon-do on May last year.
I reserved 2 rooms for a night 2 weeks ago.
These ladies are very interested in "Temple stay" but by different reason.
Ann looks like her early in 40's from Hellifax, divorced, working in an elementary school as an ESL teacher in Ahnyang city, Sylva looks like her late in 30's from Ottawa, working in a famous foreign language highschool also as an ESL teacher in Yongin city.
Ann want to pray something for her family, especially her 17-year-old son and ex-husband, so looks like serious and quiet all of her trip.
Sylva is looks like just having a curious attitude for all of the program(Kharma talks, deep vow, dining, making neck lace, tea time, dining, bell-hitting, and so on).
We stayed a night and have 3 meals and left the temple around 9 a.m on Sunday to Seoul.
The price is depend on the temple but it's around 30~50U$ per night including everything.
The room looks like a shared one without any electrical things other than lightings, even toilet is outside.
It's a bit inconvenient for western people, but it's very different, and could be interested in a certain point of view.
There're a lot of temples near in Seoul, so you can have a chance if you try.
I saw a lot of frenches visit Korea to have "temple stay" for a week.
Why don't you guys try this program for a weekend, and bring this weird(?) and fun memories to your home and family members...

Re: Temple Stay

Temple? Do you mean buddhist temple? Is it out in the countryside?

Yes, I mean buddhist temple.
There are in and out of the countryside, I can tell you it's everywhere nowadays.
I personally prefer a temple located at a mountain, I mean countryside.
Interested, please let me know.
