May 8: Parent's day

I planned to visit my mom(76-year-old) on the evening of May 4th and stay a night at her apartment with my family.
I'll buy a cake instead of carnation, since my sister used to buy carnation.
I used to do that for years, and I gave some money(200,000~500,000won; it depends on my economic situation)to her.

When I was young, this day was for Mother's day.
It changed to parent's day, even I was not sure what happen but it may because there was no father's day(?).

Anyway we used to give the carnation or some flower to appreciate their love and care in the morning of the day when we live together.
School days, we used to write a letter to my mom during the class and send it to my home.
I think it's more convenient to write a letter than saying in face to face.
I'm not so familiar to express such a thanks in face to face situation.

I found that there will be a lot of dinner shows in the 5 star hotel(150,000~200,000won with dinner and show with a popular singer or star for older people) or overseas travel program.

It's not a national holiday, so don't worry about your traffic but please have a chance to think about your parents who always praying for your safe whether they live or die...

Cool Re: May 8: Parent's day

Yes! Good words from Joezoh and Shsong! We Americans and others all celebrate Mothers Day or Parents Day. Fathers Day is next Month. Then there is Grandparents day!
They all sacrificed for you, whether you are grateful or not- they do deserve some thanks for keeping you alive until you left the nest, like a bird.
Many Moms ate less so that you could eat and grow strong. Think of them on this day!
