question

Someone sed that Koreans use human waste to grow their crops. I know they did that a long time ago but not know. I asked when i went to the newcomers meeting and they looked at me like a was stupid and sed that was something they did back in the 1950 not now. they sed that the food ok to eat as long as it wasn't chicken or not well refrigerated. can anyone tell me if that true or not.

Re: question

Hmmmm I don't know. That sounds rather disgusting though.

Cool Re: question

Answer: Maybe most stopped after the government told them to, quite a few years ago. Maybe they didn't. In the U.S. we use animal waste products, and still use "steer manure" processed in bags. "Natural" fertilizers seem to grow the largest vegetables! Most all markets will tell you they do not knowingly accept foodstuffs from growers who illegally use human waste. then again, who knows? If you are a germophobe, you may wish to buy vegetables from the "Naturally grown" section in your commissary. The cost is double. Consumers Research says don't waste money on the expensive vegetable sprays you find in the Commissary. Just a teaspoon of Clorox per gallon of water will be fine for washing your vegetables. Oh yes, where does your water come from? That can be more important.
Notice the free alcohol wipes now available at the entrance to the commissary? They are to cleanse the handle of your grocery cart before shopping. It seems that most cold germs, etc., are passed along by grocery carts and doorknobs! Is this worse than kitchen workers (in every country)who don't wash their hands?
