I wouldn't say that your English is very poor. Consider the fact that even when a person learns to speak another language, most people don't learn to read or write in that language. People that can't read or write in America are considered illiterate, and you not only speak your native language, but you are better at English than a lot of people that live in the US! Keep up the good work! I only hope that when I get to Korea in October that I'll be able to become literate in Korean. Talk to you later!

Its not the knowing of a foreigner will help you get better in english, you have to work hard, I suggest you to do more hearing practices. eg. listening to News in TV or Audio books for example.
Improve hearing and reading. if you think it will be easy to learn another language you are badly mistaken. |

hi there! i think your english is amazing.as you can understand and write what you feel..ive been here for almost a year and its really hard for me to talk to native korean..i end up using sign language and most of the time if i wanna buy something at the store i just brought pictures and show it to the sales person..so i think you just focus on your sentence construction and buy english-korean dictionary in where you can look it up everyday.to improved your vocabulary.and talk to the mirror, speak in english out loud and dont be ashamed if you sound silly at times coz its allowable hehehe coz its not ur first language..
hope it helps! |

You sound just like my son who by the way is at Camp Carroll. He had the chance to learn from his mom a little before he left to go there. He opted to take a trip to Vegas instead. I am not any better as I have lived with a native speaker for 29 years and because her English is so good, I never learned more than a few phrases. I have always found that in Korea if you try they will help you. I use to point at an item and say Hangook? learned a lot of words that way LOL. I have found Koreans to be more helpful with learning their language than Americans are here when the tables are turned. Far as I am concerned shsong21 is my hero.
