Re: I wish to very well in English
The majority of my friends speak Hangul as does my wife but I am still not able to carry on a conversation in it. I can not read it or write it but you can hold a conversation in English and do it in a written fashion. It is I envies you very much. Yes English seems to be an international language but the ability to speak fluently more than one language gives you a value in business and personnel Life. In the states if two people have the same qualification and the only difference is that one can work in 2 languages guess which one will get hired. If there are 2 slots guess which one will make more money and have more oppertunity to advance. It is the one who speaks more than one language.

Re: I wish to very well in English
They are all Amerasian and grew up in Korea with English as their 2nd language. One owns his own business in Atlanta and the one that lives here in Dallas is an Electrical Engineer. I think his writing skills are better than mine. (probably not much of a complement) but he was lucky as an Amerasian in Korea he was adopted by a very well off Korean family and was able to go to college.

Re: I wish to very well in English
They do not live in Korea because 30 years ago if you were not full Korean you could not have any opportunity. Even my friend who was able to go to College there because his adopting Korean parents were well off could not get a good paying job because he was mixed race. In the US he was able to get a good paying job with a good company and make good money that was not an option for him in Korea.

If you want to use the Korean word for "Korean language" in this sentence, the proper way would be to say, "The majority of my friends speak Han-guk-mal." Or you can also use the word "Han-guk-oh." "Mal" (말) is the native Korean word for language, and (어 語) is the Sino-Korean (Chinese) equivalent. |
