Why gave up ?

Why gave up American forces in the Vietnam war ?
I wonder about the reason fail.
I think the American military very weak in bushwhacking.
American military is very advantage an all-out attack but it's not in a surprise attack.
beacuse of tall and big build than Asian pepole.
Asian pepole is very advantage in a surprise attack beacuse small stature and be quick in action.
How about your think ?

the Vietnam War

I am no expert. I spent that war in California, tracking satellites. I volunteered to go, but was denied. They said "There are no satellites in Viet Nam". Thank God. One big reason for retreating was Politics. President Johnson's government fought a limited war. Limited meant that our air forces were not allowed to bomb Hanoi.[u] That could have made a difference. We were unable to stop their re-supplying ammunition and food to their fighters. There were many other reasons, including as you say-poor "bushwhacking experience." MacArthur said once," Never get involved in a land war in Asia." The Viet Cong were an intelligent enemy, experienced in jungle fighting. I believe airpower could have won the war. Limiting air power was a mistake.

Well, the word "Victorious" is certainly debatable here. We removed Sadam Hussein from power, that is a fact. But victory in helping the Iraqui people
achieve a workable government "Of the people, for the people, and by the people" is not so easy. They will have to cooperate to make that happen. Yes, American forces personnel are dying there yet; for Iraqui freedom.
They will have to be willing to die for their freedom. The time will come when we will decide to continue to help them, or let them fight for their own freedom.
Bushfighting is not in my desktop dictionary. Blowing people up with home-made bombs (Unconventional Incindiary Devices) [UID] is not there either.
It comes from "incinerate", to burn into ashes. So I can't spell it.
Modern war is definitely not modern. It is so old it goes back to Cain and Able in the Garden of Eden. (Not far from Iraq.) My idea of modern war is done by remote controlled IR camera equipped armed drones, operated from a bunker many miles away.

American forces personnel already know that the Iraq war purposelessness.[means nothing]
they started thinking why we are die.
they[GI] are not a fool.
I know The X-Files about IRAQ WAR.

Not to jump on ou, but this is absolutely false.

You are simply repeating what you hear from the news or it is your opinion. Did you watch the videos I showed earlier? Morale is high in Iraq and the re-enlistment numbers are very high as well. U.S. soldiers would rather be home, but they in no way think this war is pointless like you are saying. I know over 20 people who have been to Iraq or are there now and not one thinks the war in Iraq is pointless. Shsong21, I suggest you actually talk to some soldiers that are in Iraq and get a better picture.

Mike

Mike;
Your say may be right but my think is different.
U.S. said exist Nuclear in Iraq but did not exist it in there.
right ?
Nuclear didn't exist at the beginning. right ?
then, why did start the war ? For got Sadam Hussein ? What for ?
Do you can explain ?
Mike !, we has to understand what real peace is.
That do not solve by arms. we has to know it.

Shsong: I think you have been "fooled" by reading some false news headlines.
I was going to suggest you actually talk to some GI's who have been there. I talk to them every day. Mike and I are right. Even some Americans don't understand that the world is safer without a nut like Saddam Hussein. There was a lot of evidence about "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (WMD), which Saddam had. The US and British Intelligence agreed that he had to be removed. So we did. Noises made afterward about "The WMD was not found there", were made by people who were like St. Thomas in the Bible. Remember Doubting Thomas, who didn't believe Jesus had arisen from the dead? He had to put his hand into His side before he would believe. Believe that Saddam was dangerous. Read about how many of his own people he killed needlessly. Follow his trial.

shsong21,

Yes, war does suck. But you can't really say it solves nothing if you look at history. Wait, maybe you're right...maybe war is not a solution, but more of an effect. But I'm glad South Korea was affected this way.

Anyway, yes, we're not fools...we all know there are ulterior motives for being involved in a war (including Korea).

Maybe you can tell us why Korea sends troops there, too. Maybe the reasons are the same.

Eddie brings up an excellent point.

What if the U.S. decided NOT to come to the aid of South Korea in 1950? I can promise you there were plenty of people in the U.S. and around the world that thought, "South Korea is simply not worth 150,000+ U.S. dead and injured."

We did not find the level of WMD in Iraq that we thought was there, but it was all there. Here are some pictures of Saddam's work on the Kurds:

WARNING GRAPHIC PICTURES!!!

You can read the rest of the story here.

This was almost 20 years ago! Do you think Saddam lost his capability since then?

Much like the North Koreans today deserve a chance for a life with freedom, so do the Iraqis. It doesn't matter if you were for the war or against the war in Iraq. We have to finish the job so we have a a great ally in the Middle East.

Here is the man that told his men to fight to their death and still fight today.

He was a coward and a thug and will most likely be put to death.

Mike
