Really? do you have any articles on this? I would find that had to believe, Navy would not lower it's statndards to our level

As for the penny comment, it works both ways. My bill has been $2.23 and they give me change of 75 cents, but if it would have been $2.22 i would have gotten 70 cents back.

I use to have a NEX card when i lived by the Naval Post Graduate School and in 2001 they changed it to a Star card (AAFES) and I had 2 Star account. That sucked, they were very stealthy about the take-over though but it is AAFES.

I am not sure if AAFES took over NEX. The article below is from GAO. There article has some other interesting facts as well.

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service’s dividend fluctuated from a high in 2000 of $260.4 million to a low in 2002 of $220.1 million before increasing again to $242.2 million in 2004. Similarly, the Navy Exchange’s dividend was at its high of $53.3 million in 2000, at a low of $41.4 million in 2002, and was around $50 million in 2003 and 2004. The Marine Corps Exchange’s dividend fluctuated from year to year, but remained near $30 million, with the exception of its lowest year, 2004, when the dividend was $26.1 million.
