Koreans Voice Bedroom Frustrations

Finally an interesting article. Ok, all you Korean men you need start doing better!

Korean respondents ranked at the bottom in a survey on the sex life of 1,200 married men and women in South Korea, the United States, Japan and France.

The multi-national pharmaceutical firm Lilly, known for its anti-impotency drug Cialis, conducted an online poll of 300 married people between the ages of 30 and 50 in the four nations late last year. Only 53.3% of Korean men and 31.3% of Korean women were satisfied with their married sex life, ranking the lowest after Japan (men: 47.3%, women: 30.7%). In France, a whopping 93% of men and 80% of women said they were happy with their marital sex life. The U.S. figures were 78% and 65.3% each.

As for the reason behind the discontentment, Korean men cited 'not enough sexual intercourse' (32%), 'wife's lack of technique' (24.7%) and 'wife's lack of desire for sexual intimacy' (23.3%). On the flipside of that coin, the women said their 'husbands are indifferent to atmosphere during foreplay and after sex' (26%), 'seek only to please their sexual desires' (20.7%) or simply they 'have grown tired of their husbands' (12.7%).

Korea was also in last place after Japan as for the frequency of sexual intercourse. 43.3% of Korean men had sex twice or three times a month, while 34.7% of women reported that they had sex only once or not at all. This compares to 30% of American men saying they have sex 4-7 times and 22% of women 2-3 times. Moreover, 17.3% of American women were found to participate in lovemaking more than 16 times a month. Japanese were the least active in bed with once or none at all for 65.3% of men and 71.3% of women.

Meanwhile, 54% of Korean men and 41% of Korean women (the highest percentage of the four nations) said that the sexual frustrations had put a damper on their daily conversation. The country was also at the top of the heap for the number of respondents who experienced sexual discontent but did not mention it to their spouse.

Kim Soo-jin of Lilly Korea who oversaw the survey, says Korean men who are less confident in the bedroom avoid intimate conversation with their spouse for fear that casual dialogue might turn romantic, and urged efforts to address impotency for a happy marriage. However, Koreans were most aware of the side effects of an unsatisfactory sex life. 60% of Korean men, more than double the Japanese figure, said the problem must be treated by educating oneself on the issue or through meeting with an expert on sexual dysfunction.

How is it possible for American men to have sext 4-7 times a month if women are only having it 2-3 times a month? Either men are cheating more or men are "meditating" way too much!

Finally, are French women that good? No wonder why the French never fight, they are too busy

If I didn't know any Korean people or culture and read this, I'd be like, "How is that possible?!?!" (to not have sex with spouses).

But I do know (or have known) quite a few Korean married couples...and the truth freaks me out. What's their explanation? Here's some I collected (in no particular order):

1. They only have sex when they are trying to have a child.
2. Men (and women) have sex with prostitutes or cheat.
3. Some say it is too embarrassing (mostly women) to show that side of themselves in front of their spouse.
4. Women: husbands only last a couple seconds
5. Men: she just lays there and does nothing; has no expression
6. Marriage was arranged; never in love
7. Was never fun in the first place
8. Just can't find a way to satisfy each other (lack of experience?)
9. Marriage was a business transaction; a show or for wealth (still happens)

Off the top of my head that's all I can think of.

This is so true. Funny thing is i believe Korea has one of the lowest divorce rate out of all other countries.

It's really not all the korean men's fault. Sometimes it's the females who dont try as Eddie pointed out in his list of points, "They just lie there with no expression..."

Though I'm not saying the men dont have their faults, I believe both gender should start doing better and not just for the males
