While Korea seems safe from violence, there seems to be a lot of sexual assaults in Korea. It seems that young kids seem to make up a large amount of the sexual assaults in Korea.

A South Korean soldier was arrested Saturday on charges of sexually abusing seven elementary schoolgirls over the past three years, reported South Korean Yonhap News Agency. The 23-year-old private, identified only by his surname Ahn, was charged with violating the law on sex crimes and handed over to the military police, Yonhap said. Ahn was accused of sexually abusing a second-grade student on the rooftop of an apartment building in Pocheon, a city about 46 kilometers northeast of Seoul, on Feb. 9 while on furlough. He was also suspected of sexually harassing another 12-year-old schoolgirl in a deserted house in late February last year, when he was not in the army. The soldier admitted to having sexually molested five more fourth- and fifth-grade school girls between 2004 and 2005, Yonhap quoted police officers as reporting.

Is Korea tough on sexual abuse or are they too weak, thus all the assaults? I have also noticed Korean movies depict a lot of violence against women. Any thoughts?
