Most Korean Men Link Appearance to Success

Is this any different than anywhere else in the world?

Quote:
Some eight out of 10 Korean men in their 20s and 30s believe that outward appearance is important for success. If that is true, just how far are Korean men willing to go to fix their looks? To coincide with the Korean launch of the fitness magazine Men's Health, the monthly teamed up with AGB Nielsen Media Research to administer a survey of 500 Korean men between 25 and 37.
From what I have seen, Koreans are naturally slim and have a great diet compared to most of the western world. Now, I would say Korean men spend more money on beauty products than anyone else!

Quote:
Korean men in their 20s or 30s are estimated to spend a monthly average W29,000 (US$29) on beauty products. Men have an average of 4.3 different beauty products and 1.6 bottles of cologne. The vast majority use lotions, with 16.2 percent saying they used shaving creams, 11.2 percent body lotion, 11.2 percent hand cream and 9 percent facial foam cleanser.
Shsong21, you have some explaining to do!

You can read the full story here.

Ahh cologne! The magic rash spray! I have to spray it on my shirt and even then the evil stuff sometimes makes its way through the fabric!

I agree and relate that appearances are important and do leave lasting impressions (well, at least I used to...all washed out now! ).

However, I don't agree when guys take it too far with those beauty salon, crazy hairstyles, manicures/pedicures, mud masks, plastic surgery, and those overpriced designer fashion clothing.

In other words, I hate when guys try to look "pretty". What's even worse is when they try to act all macho while wearing a pink vest with long, straight permed hair.
