Do any of you remember what the name of the company or anything about tracking down the name of those old news reel clips they used to show at the movies back in WWII and the Korean War?
"Newsreel" was the British group, and I've found some of their stuff on the intenet, but I'm looking for other sources like that, and I can't think of any keywords to use to track down the US media source that did those slots for the US market. And I've tried some initial surfing and come up pretty empty. |

One of them was "Warner-Pathe" news. I may think of another, if I get a senior moment...
I think Columbia may have been another- probably associated with Columbia studios. Last edited by Mr. Joe : 08-10-2006 at 03:03 PM. |

Re: Old War News Reel Question
I am not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but you might try checking -
http://www.sc.edu/library/newsfilm/ A quote from the webpage says, "In an historic 1980 donation, the University of South Carolina was selected by 20th Century Fox Film Corporation to receive a portion of the Fox Movietone News Collection. This gift of internationally important, irreplaceable, and unique newsreel footage was the starting point for what has become one of the most significant academically housed newsfilm libraries in the United States." Movietone made quite a few of those news reel clips.... Just a thought. Quote:
