shsong21, do you know that game called Silent Hill? The movie will be released in the US later this month. Will it also play in Korea?

Surprised it took this long to get the movie in Korea. I am not sure if this was discrimination against the Amercian movie industry and ONLY bc it received a recent award it is coming to Korea.

Crash was an excellent movie.

I agree that "Crash" delivered an excellent message, but it was not a great movie. Sure, discrimination and racism are as prevelant today as they were 40-50 years ago, but this movie was not the first of its kind. Anyone remember "American History X", among many others that came well before "Crash." The acting was very good, but again nothing breakthrough in the overall theme. It is truely a sad state in America if we need Hollywood to remind and teach us that discrimination/racism still exists.

I guess that is your opinon of the movie. I thought it was excellent. I also researched it on IMDB and it had a very high rating as well. Although I seldom agree with the critics.

I would concur that it is unfortunate we still experience discrimination in our society. Hollywood only reminds us all of our oversights and indifferences. Those individuals living in rural town USA only exposure to many other cultures is what they see in the media. Therefore their perception of another race is what they see, not what they experience.

I learned in my university about racism within America. also, our speech(Korean speech) are criticize or teach to pepole about racism witin America.
Korean intellectuals have critical seeing about America.
They say to pepole, America never a great country.
most important thing, they are the leadership of Korea now.
They are want get out of influence of U.S.A.

I am a little amused that Korea, is teaching about racism in America. Are you saying racism does not exist in the world? In Korea? They same intellectuals may not have had the opportunity to speak freely as they are unable to do in nK. These individuals are shock jocs who hope people will listen as they spread propaganda. Although there is still racism in our great country it has improved drastically since the 60's. The rules in our society really hinder racial harmony; however, I beleieve America has a better track record than most countries.

Shsong21, Crash won Best Picture in the US and is a good movie. It shows that racism exists on all sides of the spectrum. No race has a monopoly on being racists. I have been targeted here in Hawaii by locals just for being white.

The only way to stop racism is through education that must start with the family. You can teach a kid right from wrong in school, but if the kid’s parents are racists, then he/she will probably have a prejudice.

Overall, I would say race relations in America are very good. Today kids worship a black golfer and a Chinese basketball player.

Silent Hill looks awsome! I can't wait to see it.
