[Lost Nomad] Korea: the Hub of International Human Trafficking

In a story that sounds eerily like a similar story that broke last year, another prostitution ring in the U.S. has been broken up by the feds. This time (again) Korean women were being sold and traded after entering the country illegally. 31 people have been arrested.
Here’s a blurb:

“The women are in some instances told or led to believe that, if they leave the prostitution business before paying off their debts, they will suffer a range of harms,” the complaint said. “The women are sometimes threatened with harm to their families in Korea.”

I think this form of prostitution is terrible. If women choose to sell their bodies like in Amsterdam, then the more power to them. This is slavery pure and simple. The sad part is Korea imports a lot of girls from other countries for prostitution (Russia, PI ..) and export Korean women to be prostitutes in Japan and America.

Re: [Lost Nomad] Korea: the Hub of International Human Trafficking

Forced prostitution is slavery. Any one who goes to a foreign country and has there passport taken by their 'employer' is being subjected to a loss of freedom, slavery. The Korean Americans are importing/smuggling Koreans to the U.S. to work at massage parlors, escort services etc... This has been going on for a very long time. It seems we are as capable of stopping it as we are at securing the border. I wouldn't go so far to say that this Korea connection is the hub of international human traffiking, it just seems to get the most press. There is rampant human traffiking, slavery occurring in the Middle East and South America yet we rarely hear of it.

The only reason they are being busted is that they are running prostution rings if it was just a massage parlor it would probably not get a second look. I am surpried USinKorea has not weighed in on this one yet.
