Accident kills S. Korean man sitting in middle of street

It looks like this man wanted to die. His simply sat in the road.

I hope none of the Anti-U.S. sites try to make anything out of this.

Quote:
A U.S. Army captain who was driving to work early Wednesday morning hit and killed a South Korean man who was sitting in the middle of a street near Yongsan Garrison, according to Korean police and 8th U.S. Army officials.

Capt. Justin Leblanc, a member of the 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion, was driving about 4:50 a.m. when he came upon the man sitting in the street near the Electronics Market in Yongsan, according to Korean National Police, who are investigating the case.

Leblanc tried to brake but couldn뭪 stop his Hyundai Excel in time, according to senior officer Na Gwang-ju of the Yongsan-gu traffic investigation division.

NO WAY! It can't be... When did this take place? The article is dated Friday, April 21, 2006...oh okay...Wednesday morning. Whew!

No, I did not murder anyone. But last Friday, April 14/15 (or Saturday morning at 0100 hrs) I saw a drunk guy wandering in the middle of the street while cars sped by in this same area. I was pretty plastered myself; didn't feel like putting up with it, but I couldn't just ignore a guy about to be killed. Other idiots on the streets were just watching the show doing nothing.

I didn't talk to him, reason with him or anything...I simply ran out, grabbed the guy, dragged him on to the sidewalk and down the stairs of the ShinYongsan subway station. He was pretty much knocked out. The guard down at the subway station area probably thought I had just beat up someone as he ran toward me. Luckily, a lady who saw the whole thing explained what I did.

What puzzled me and pissed me off the most is not why people just stood there waiting for the guy to get hit, but why people stared at me with a "Why are you helping this man?! Are you crazy?!" kind of look. This was before I dragged him down the stairs (from the street to the sidewalk).

Anyway, that's why the article made me jump...thought the guy managed to crawl back out and get killed.
