All health freaks (no pun intended) I've met always say a morning jog is the best, but the other half of good health is a well balanced diet.

A well balanced diet is always good.

What ever it is you decide to do make sure you do it for more than 20 minutes
the whole point of excerise is to get your heart rate going, and keep your heart rate up for a period after you have completed what ever you decide to do. Most Dr's say that point is 20 minutes.

shsong21, wht are you looking to do? build muscle or lean muscle or just stay in shape?

I've been really bad lately, but when I do exercise regularly I make sure that I eat three meals a day and watch my alcohol intake (the weekends are often bad for that, but hey...).
I have one of those cross trainers at home. Do you know what that is? It's a machine where you move your arms and legs like you're skiing. No, I don't have the one that's on the commercials. Mine is better, I believe. It cost me 300 000 Won, but it's cheaper than going to the gym in the long run. I also have free weights at home and a pair of roller blades.
I think that variety is important if you want to stay motivated to exercise. It's always good to have some kind of equipment or a video tape at home when you don't have time or don't want to leave the house. Then, on other days take advantage of the warm weather that's coming up. Roller blading, biking, walking, whatever. I also find that if you've been exercising seriously all week, it's nice to take one day (maybe Friday) to just do something at your own pace outside, and not worry about your performance.
I'm one to talk though - I've been trying to get back into exercising, but things come up - friends come over, birthday parties - then I wake up late, don't eat until later and everything gets messed up. This month is also filled with events and holidays for me, so we'll have to see how it goes.

The best exercise is one that you enjoy if you do not like doing it you will not keep it up. I use to play racquet ball as I loved it and I would get a good aerobic burn I now have arthritis in my knees so now I must switch. I find cross trainers boring as I do treadmills

I may have to find something that can be done year around. Gym membership is not cheap so any ideas that people have I would love to hear. I think the fact that most sports are out due to my knees I will be limited. I am planning on getting a bike but weather can be a determining factor. My wife has suggested getting rid of the remote and channel surf by getting my butt off the couch and going to the TV.

Yeh, cross trainers, tredmills, etc can be really boring. But, the good thing is that you can use them year round and you can watch TV at the same time. Actually, I think a cross trainer would be easier on your knees than a tredmill. Yes, weather is a determining factor, but if you at least have a bike then you could look forward to going out on the days that are nice.
My friend has had arthritis since she was in the nineth grade, and one thing that she's tried for exercise is swimming. I don't know about the swimming pools in Korea (availablity and how much they cost), but an indoor pool is somewhere you could go year round. Swimming is also very easy on your joints I believe.
I don't know how men feel about water aerobics , but that's another idea. Shsong, do you know about swimming pools in Korea?

They have a pool here where I live in Texas but it is filled with kids by the time I get back from work. I may go back to weight training and find something I can do indoors.

Oh, I'm sorry, you're in Texas. Yes, that's so annoying when the pools are packed with people and you can't move. Weight training is good, but for cardio - I don't know - walking on the tredmill at a fast enough pace is good and not as hard on your knees as running.
