South Koreans told to boycott 'The Da Vinci Code'
There seems to be a lot of fear from the church for the new movie The De Vinci Code. Doesn’t the church understand that the more they try to keep people away from this movie the more they promote it? For instance, this story would have never been published if they were not protesting!

You're right, mike! I wanna watch it now more than ever just to annoy the church and wave my movie ticket in front of them!
IMO, the boycott tends to make the Christians look like they are afraid people would find out the truth rather than a protest against blasphemy. They're holding up signs stating, "This film is NOT telling the truth" and "This film is FICTION". |

I'm confused over religious leaders getting upset over a fiction. The upper lefthand side of the back cover clearly is marked 'Fiction', yet boycotts now in the ROK. India was suppose to have a hunger strike. Go see it I say.

There was a movie about the Passion that the church made a big deal over and if they had notit would not have made any money because it was poorly done. It is amazing though how many people believe this even though it is a piece of fiction and the facts that are presented if they would look them up it would prove it was fiction. Just because it is written does not make it the truth!

Christians abhor Blasphemy
Christians can get excited over lies (or fiction) about their beliefs just as Muslims get upset when someone denies that their ALLAH is not the one true god.
If Christians protesting and marching can prevent only Christians from contributing to the movie, by not attending it, then their purpose will be served. They may incite the curious to attend, but that will be a smaller factor. I haven't seen a really good movie in a long time. Any gimmick they can use, they will, to try increase attendance. Movie Theatres and Standard Home Telephones and Film Cameras are all going to become extinct very soon. Last edited by Mr. Joe : 05-19-2006 at 04:17 PM. |

Depends on the Location and who's involved. Luther Campbell of the 2 Live Crew was arrested in Florida and I believe his album went platium, something that should of even sold 50K. TBN made some movie while back, Omega Code I believe was the name. They pitch was that it was a good Christian movie that professed faith. Myself and several sat through it and wondered when the 'Christian' part was at. The movie went back for a refund at Walmart and serveral us complained to TBN about the misleading comments. The Sci Fi channel had some dude who wrote an anti-Da Vinci Code book claiming that it was the most blatantly blasphemous attack ever on Christianity and threw out a matra that basically compared Dan Brown's perspective to several heresies in the early church.
No one ever threw a fit when Bishop John Spong write his two books on changing Christianity to meet the needs of the 21st Century. In short, Spong believes that 90% of the Bible should be thrown out and foriegn missionaries are a waste of time. I believe he's still teaching at Havard. Holy Blood, Holy grail never received this much media attention. Citizens in southern France have for centuries told stories about Mary's relationshipwith Jesus. Strange world of media pundits today. I'm just waiting for someone to confront Hal Lindsey about his Late Great Plant Earth book and ask him why the events in the book of Revelations has been underway for the last 25 years. Dan Brown, hmm. The way some religious leaders are going about this nonsense, he's in the top spot to replace Galileo has a doctrine destroyer. Even if its a fiction.

Now the question is, if this was a story about a secret Muslim conspiracy, how many fatwahs would have been put out and would Tom Hanks have to live in hiding?
It's clearly fiction, and the church should just leave it for what it is.

Opened #32
De Vinci Code opened #32 of all time (single day gross), just under the Incredibles! I guess the hype was way over done. Spiderman 2 on its third day made more.
