ROK law to increase punishment for assault on Korean taxi drivers
I'm not sure what the current punishment is for assault on drivers but it looks like they are sending a very clear message that it won't be tolerated. This was sent out by MAJ Samuel W. Morris, Command Judge Advocate.
Effective in February, ROK law will change to increase the punishment for an assault on a Korean taxi driver to a minimum of three years confinement or a $20,000 fine. This would include assaults on AAFES taxi drivers off post as well as on post (where the ROK authorities decide to exercise jurisdiction over the case). |

Re: ROK law to increase punishment for assault on Korean taxi drivers
It's the asshole drunk US servicemen that beat and rob these taxi drivers that make it almost impossible to catch a cab at 0050 in Itaewon as the drivers slow down, notice you're American and speed off. Thanks, assholes! I say kudos to the ROK for increasing the punishment!
