Boxing Roy Jones Jr vs Park Si-Hun (1988 Olympic Final)
This is the controversial Olympic fight in 1998 between Roy Jones Jr and Park Si-Hun. Roy Jones pounded Park for 3 rounds, but the Gold went to Park. From what I read the judges all thought Jones won, but because it was in Korea they wanted to make it close. By dong so they awarded the gold to park.
What is almost comical about this fight is listening to the Koreans in the audience cheering in the second round. The whole time Roy Jones was pounding Park. The Koreans were cheering then a standing 8 count was given to Park. It was like the Koreans were watching another fight! The third round was like watching a grown man beat on a boy. But hey, let's talk about speed skating.

Re: Boxing Roy Jones Jr vs Park Si-Hun (1988 Olympic Final)
I remember that one, think they said later the judges were bought by the East Germans or something like that. One of the worst decisions in boxing history
BTW does anybody remember in the same Olympics the Korean fighter who lost and sat in the ring in protest for like 2 hours afterwards? |
