MEGA MART and New Core
Found a new little place to go MEGA MART, found it flying the other night on Little (1) turn right off of 38 going south to Choenon. Takes about 20 minutes to get there from Camp Humphreys.
Kinda like a Sams club in the states, had a little bit of everything clothes, shoes, food even had a little section that everything was only $1.00. Nice little place to waste a few hrs. Also has a great bakery that fills the store with fresh bakery smells...... Also went to New Core, same road except you turn left of of 38 coming from Camp Humphreys. Takes about 5 minutes from Camp Humphreys. 10 stories of maddness, top 4 floors are restraunts and movie theaters. Has 6 stories of underground parking. Has a VERY nice grocery store on floor B1 called Kims. I thought the prices were fare for being downtown. The rest of the floors are all clothes, womens, childrens they also have a floor for home decorations. Oh yea, they also have a McDonalds on the first floor. Going to both took about 5-6 hrs so it blew the good portion of the day.

Re: MEGA MART and New Core
Have you been to the Lotte Mart that is on 38? They have a 1000 won section too that I love. They also have this restaurant on the second floor called Alaska that had a really nice buffet. For anyone who wants to get to Lotte Mart by bus you can go to the Pyeongtaek bus station and get on bus 50. The bus stops right in front of the store, you can't miss the huge Lotte Mart sign on the building.

From the Songtan station it was 3 stops to the Pyongtaek station. Once you get off the train take the exit on the left hand side as you walk up the stairs. The taxi's are right outside the station exit. Just ask them for New Core Department store. It cost us 4800 Won to get there, but only 3200 Won to get back, mainly because of traffic. New Core was nice, even saw a movie when we were there (in English with Korean subtitles). After shopping we went to Kim's Club across the street. Great for us since we are still setting up things in our new house. Lots of great buys. |
