What a lot of guys don't think about is getting married is easy as long as you have the right paperwork. It is getting the visa to the US that can be difficult. A lot of these girls have worked in other countries besides Korea. I know of a contractor where I live who had a difficult time getting a visa for his wife because at one time she worked in Libya.

Gangster has a good point. I understand the pretty Russian girls, who are still around, by the way, have been sort of discouraged from working near the US Posts and Bases for the very reason that they are from a communist country, and may not be able to easily pass the required backgroung check for a visa. International dating can cause Military folks to lose their security clearance, and consequently their job. Learn and pass along to the younger troops.

Willy:You are correct, Sir! ! That's why I said "can" instead of "will". An officer at Osan not so long ago comes to mind. He knew better. Younger troops may not stop to consider how the country represented by the passport of a girlfriend could make such a difference in one's career.

Guest: I'm with you on not judging a book by it's cover, so to speak. We should not assume things about an individual unless their actions prove them to be suspect. An old fellow said he always assumes a person is forthright and intelligent, unless he or she opens his or her mouth and removes all doubt! I certainly don't think generalizing about people who choose to take whatever jobs they can to be able to send money home and to help support their families or their children deserve to be judged by anyone. We should put ourselves in their shoes and think before we speak.

Actually this is very close to what I observed when I was there back in the stone ages as my sons would say. But it is GI's will meet and Marry girls who frequent where they hang out. Most guys are not adventourious enough to go out and really try to find friends or girl friends away from their comfort zone.

There is no answer to this. Maybe an explanation and you may or may not believe or understand. Even though most have already stated a lot. So if you haven't agreed by now you probably wont. Thats ok, your choice.

I came here and talked to a lot of military women and even a few Korean bartenders. I was never into the whole "Juicy girl" scene. In fact I thought a lot like you. Well, I had a friend who was. I'm getting short on time and he invited me out. He wanted to go to a juice bar. I agreed and went with him. I had not planned on buying a juice for any girl. Than once I got there before anyone sat down I had decided I would buy one. I figured why not. Something I would like to say I did whether it was good bad or indifferent. The girl who sat down was very beautiful actually. She had a real conversation with me and it was actually nice. I had one drink and let her go. I was not about to drop a few hundred dollars on a girl just to talk to me for the night. Before I left she asked for my phone number. I agreed and I figured she was trying to make me a regular customer. I gave her my number anyways. I figured I knew my limit at paying once why not. Well over the next week or so I talked to her a lot on the phone actually. She then told me she would like to have lunch. Well this seemed like a real date..I could deal with that. No overpriced meals, expensive drinks etc. I agreed. I took her to lunch but before the date I did go back into the bar and buy her one more drink and left.

Lunch date rolls around. I have lunch with her and we talk a lot. She was actually very smart and spoke pretty good English. We played pool etc.. normal date. I did not go back into the bar after that. I did however continue talking to her on the phone. We set up a lunch date once again. At this date I had asked her if she was upset I did not come in and by her drinks. She told me no. Customers by her drinks. In fact she preffered I did not come in at all. I found this odd. She told me if I came in all the I would be like a customer. She did not want me to feel like she was with me for drinks. We did this for a few more weeks. Talking, going out to lunch, she did have her one night off she gets every once in a great while and she called me up to spend it with me. Later on she told me she wanted to spend more time with me. I figured here it comes she wants me to buy her night off. So she said she was going to buy her own night off. I was a little confused there but agreed. We hung out and it was like a real date once again. After that we spent the night in a hotel room right off base.

While talking to her I found a lot out about her. She does have a daughter, not married, and she hates her job. She obviously did it because she needed money. She doesn't like it because guys are always assuming they are going to get "play" and she doesn't do dirty work. Wont sleep with customers etc.. etc.. She told me she's here for a year in her contract. She can get out of it if she gets married. I figured that was the part....here's where I find out i'm right about them. Then she told me she did not want to get married. I asked her about it and she said marriage is for life.

So...my point of this long drawn out story? These are women. Some are good some are bad. Some are here because they can con us GI's out of money. Some are here because they felt no other choice. Even that being the case not all of them are sleezy and dirty. I met a great girl. Perhaps I got lucky. I have yet to find out she lied to me and has been very honest. Am I going to marry her? Well...maybe maybe not lol. Thats not the point though.
