I wonder how many of the US Military marry bar girls because they feel they are "rescuing a damsel in distress"?

Psychologically speaking, that would be my first guess. Young fellow in the military, making good money for maybe the first time in his life. He wants to make a difference in the world. Lovely bar girl, sad life story - now this guy can be a hero to someone.

Well, Lets put it like this.......new guy to the military, yes he is making money, first time away from home maybe he has had a girlfriend maybe not or maybe has had a bad relationship with his last girlfriend.

Comes to Korea, goes to a bar and meets this lady, she's all over him, he buys a few drinks for her, takes her home that night (First time having sex maybe) and now he is "In Love".

The above story is not fiction, true story becasue I was part of getting him out of the situation.

Does that happen all the time? Alot more than you'll know.....

Sure that happens a lot! Does that mean it can't turn into a lasting relationship? Nobody knows. These days the odds of staying married are what-50-50 ?
How many couples sit down and list all the good and all the bad possibilities of a lasting relationship before they get married? How many read Dr. Laura's books first? How many get their pastor's approval and go to pre-marital counseling? Who actually supresses the natural hormones and spends much time discussing finaces, children, etc.? Humans are generally not much above the other animals in this respect.
Have you got a solution? Should we teach dating in school? What grade would you start? Ah-sweet mystery of life...

In a moment of relaxation I reviewed most of the posts on the subject, and find that almost every facet of the subject of bar girls has been covered in these pages, with the exception of possible life-threatening diseases, which you should already know.
If a newbie to the Korea bar scene, no matter what his/her occupation happens upon our forum, please read back through and enjoy an education born from experience and fact. I think your understanding of life experiences will be improved.

Good point Joe, as those of us with experience are always willing to share with those who would like to listen. I also realize that you can talk till your blue in the face to a young person about all the things involved in a life long commitment and as Joe said they do not hear it until a problem comes up. As I have 2 married boys one in the process of the D word.

I have heard about the juicy girls now that I will be there next week Wednesday. Are they really that bad? Do I need to be careful? What is it I need to know? Your help is greatly appreciated and I am very much looking forward to arriving in Korea and working at Osan AFB in Services.

If you are old enough to go to bars, they will be there....short skirts/dress and if they ask you to buy them a drink and you do that drink will cost you $20, hence, juicy girls........

There are plenty of of Korean woman out and about that are willing to get together...just have to find them......get out of town besides the local bars...

Good to know. I am not really to worried, just come from a small town and when I moved to Colorado that was an eye opener and I am sure Korea will be as well. I know I am going to enjoy my time in Korea. Is it better to live in the dowtown area outside the Osan AFB gate or further out?

I'm assuming your an officer or senior enlisted....if not, the chances of living off base are slim...
