Help finding a large dept. store near City Hall Station

We're going to go see the Monet exhibit that is being held at the Seoul Museum of Art. While I am in Seoul I'd like to look for some baby items at one of the large stores like Emart or New Core. I'm going to be using line 2 on the subway to get to City Hall Station. Can anyone tell me if there any of these stores located at one of the stops along line 2? I was thinking there is an Emart at Yongsan Station.

Cool Re: Help finding a large dept. store near City Hall Station

The basement at Yongsan station (#135) is E-mart. The I-Park Department store there is large also, but overly expensive.
You need to get to Nam Dae Mun Market to save money. Get there by getting off at stop # 425 (4xx is blue line). Have a Korean write down exactly what you are looking for before you come. Dong Dae Mun is cheapest for clothing. (#205)(2xx is green line).

Is the Emart at Yongsan station easy to find? A lady told me that there was New Core at Gasan Digital Complex and I wandered around there and never did find it.

Read carefully-it is in the basement of Yongsan station. Actually two floors-basement 1 is the main store, basement 2 is groceries. Get off the train, go up stairs to the front area out entrance 1 and down the indoor escalators. Big yellow E-Mart signs all over. Carry your own plastic bags or pay 700 won for one.

Can you tell me how to walk from Yongsan Station to the base? I need to go to the gate that is closest to the 121?

Help finding THE 121 Hosp. from Yongsan Sta.(135)

Sure! Go up to the big central waiting room and go out the FRONT at exit 1. You will see the long escalators straight ahead. Walk outside and down the super long escalator to the ground. You will see a street crossing in front of you. The easy way: go straight across and keep going straight to the next street (Hangangro), then turn LEFT 1/2 block to any set of subway steps. (You MUST go down into the Shin Yongsan Station (429) in order to cross the street) Down in the subway area, keep going to your LEFT all the way to the end of the station. Turn RIGHT up the stairs and you will have crossed the street and you will come out at the Yongsan Post Office, a big TAN colored building. Do not cross any street, but turn RIGHT and in one block you will find Gate 19. It is a short straight walk uphill to the top of the hill where you can see the Collier Fieldhouse. As you start down the other side of the hill, you will take the FIRST RIGHT on a small street. You can see the 121 down there!
COPY THIS AND GIVE YOUR TRAVELING PARTNER A COPY,TOO!
This is valuable for anyone coming to Yongsan by subway. You can wait 30 minutes at the bus stop inside Gate 19 and go anywhere on post.

I wanted to look at things like diaper bags, strollers and carseats. The PX/BX do not have a very large selection if they have anything at all. I made it to the Emart at Yongsan station and they didn't have very much either. The Emart in Pyeongtaek has more to offer as far as baby things.

I just want to add something for anyone else who might be following the directions on how to get from Yongsan station to gate 19. When you are inside Sinyongson staion(429), it is exit 1 that will bring you out by the Post Office.

I can't tell you where to find strollers, etc. in Seoul. I would venture to say if you don't find what you want at E-Mart or Lotte Mart, it is best to order from Sears or Pennys or the PX Customer service desk. They have other catalogs-you have to ask. Military folks cannot afford to shop at Big Korean Department stores for clothing or such items. They are all overpriced. You may enjoy looking, and having lunch on the top floors, and that's it. There are some nice stores attached to some subway stations, but if it says Hyundai or Shinsegye or I-Park, forget it, unless it is a big sidewalk sale.
If you can't get to Dong Dae Mun, a quick trip thru the stores in Myung Dong is fun, and lots of sales. As you exit the subway, Nice purses are $9.00. Yes, they are Chinese, but nearly the same as the $300 korean ones in the Dept Store.
