Smile Giving birth in Korea

Hello folks,
First of all I am so happy that I am going to be a father:).This is going to be my first experience to take care of my wonderful wife and to healthy birth of my child. I would really appreciate if you could give me any information related to giving birth and pregnancy period medical care in Korea.

1)How much money am I expected to spend for 9 month care and giving birth things?
2)How this things happen in here?
3)Which hospital would you suggest me?
4)Please share your experience with me....

Thank you beforehand for your responses...

Re: Giving birth in Korea

I went to Cha hospital for the first 5 months of my pregnancy before I switched to the military hospital. I do recommend Cha. Appointments cost about $30, sonograms were $20 and they liked to do sonograms at almost every appointment. I can't remember how much blood/urine tests cost but I don't think I ever paid more than $120 total for a visit. I was also told that I needed to bring $1000 to pay up front for the delivery.

I just had a friend deliver there because there was no room at 121. She said no one there spoke English and they refused to give her an epidural, but I'm guessing that you haven't had any problems since you continuted to go. Anything else you can tell me, just in case they send me there?

I was loking at going to Ajou University Hospital in Suwon. They wanted 3-4 million won, and that was just for having the baby there, not any other prenatal care.

Re: Giving birth in Korea

Wow, all of my doctors spoke English and the nurses did OK. They quickly found someone if we had any communication problems. I even had an International Coordinator to help us make appointments and deal with paperwork. But, like I said, I switched to 121 at 5 months. So, I don't know what it's actually like to deliver there.
