Koreans splashing around in the bathroom...

Why do Koreans splash around in the bathroom so much??? Everytime I go to hotels or people's houses they somehow manage to completely soak their whole bathroom. Even my girlfriend does this. When I use the bathroom after her it looks like she hosed the whole place down. I hate it when I'm about to sit on the toilet seat then realize its soaking wet. Can someone please explain all the splashing around here in Korea? Is it just fun for the Koreans to splash around and make a mess??? Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Koreans splashing around in the bathroom...

Next time you're in a Korean bathroom...check around for the drain on the floor. It's there. Guaranteed there is one there.

So you splash around and get water all over the place...and you never have to worry...because unlike a western bathroom...there is a drain.

Re: Koreans splashing around in the bathroom...

So just because the bathroom has a drain means that you can treat the place like a slip and slide party???

Slip and slide?

You didn't see the sandles??

Every Korean house keeps a pair of sandles just inside in the bathroom entrance.

Re: Koreans splashing around in the bathroom...

It's sort of a Korean cultural thing. Koreans don't use shower curtains, and very seldom will you find a tub. The whole bathroom is fair game. The only thing you need to mind is the TP. I've been in Korea for almost 11 years and you know what? I much prefer the Korean "drain on the floor" system. I guess it just takes some getting used to.

All the best to you.

Cool Re: Koreans splashing around in the bathroom...

I used to enjoy the heck out of those kind of "showers" during the first three years of marriage at Osan! But sometimes the TP will get wet. Just another thing you have to watch out for...

At a public restroom on Yongsan I recently saw a sign; (Korean Employees- please do not wash your hair or anything else other than your hands in here".
Guess that says it all.

You do understand that you are not cool, right? You came to Korea for a reason, enjoy it or not, you are here. No need to bash people becasue you do not understand them, you are just showing how ignorant you are in your ways...

Try to explain if you must, you will get a response here becasue that is what you want.

Try to be better than other's on this board will get you nothing.

If you feel you must call people names, then please do it on another board.

Re: Koreans splashing around in the bathroom...

I kinda like my whole bathroom being a shower, it makes it way easier to clean.
