Denied service because I'm a foreigner
I was in the town of Gohan near High1 ski resort and I was denied service because I was a foreigner with a Korean girlfriend. The young men running the place told the teenage boy to stop cleaning our table. The guys running this place were late 20's early 30's. My girlfriend listened closely to them and they basically wanted us to wait till we got frustrated and left. That is exactly what we did. I love Korea and yet I get treated like shit cuz I have a Korean girlfriend. Koreans had better think about how they treat foreigners. I have refrained several times from being the "ugly foreigner" but I'm on the brink of knocking one of these small-minded f*cks out..................

Re: Denied service because I'm a foreigner
Any place you go in the World you will run into American haters.
This is something you’ll just have to get used to. I see it from all over, however that doesn’t mean that that is the attitude of the majority of the folks where you are. Keep in mind there is always other establishments that would love to have your business. |

Gee, something like that would NEVER happen in America. Everyone here is treated equally and with no hesitation.
Yeah, right. |

There is a big difference there though. This person is in Korea LEGALLY and is trying to be a customer of an establishment that I am guessing could probably use his money.

Re: Denied service because I'm a foreigner
The further you get away from a military base, the more likely you'll run into these type of people.
We have little community right outside our gate about 3 miles, where we used to ride our bikes. One time we stopped at a store and damn near got into a fight just becsue they HATE Americans and told us to leave and never come back.... We just have to deal with it, some Koreans love us and some Koreans would rather cut our throat and be done with us..... It will never change, no matter what we do...

Re: Denied service because I'm a foreigner
In the western world, us + canada, there is this stigma that racism exists only here and that its mostly white folks. Its not true but for Americans some may believe that. Truth is its everywhere, everyone is racism. Given the regression towards a global economy i think its ever so slowly changing.
But in any given place there are people who are friendly to foreign people those who are not. |
