Re: televisions....
I beieve HCT is a Korean made TV. It's o.k. until your looking at that brand next to a Sony or any other TV.

That's the brand that I think is at the PX for a 42" it's like 799 or something. I had considered it, but like chucksnee said, Once I saw a Sony (Could been a JVC) next to it with the 1080 pixels.. ahh I said nevermind. If I'm going to spend that amount of money, I'd rather that money go towards a more recognized name and something that the picture quality is going to make me drool.

Re: televisions....
Don't buy a TV until you get here, unless you have a relative inthe wholesale business. Even then, I wouldn't, as it might get broken in shipment.

Re: televisions....
We shipped both our TV's over and they were fine once they got here. I'm sure it's hit and miss though.

Re: televisions....
Actually, a lot of Sony plasma tv screens are made right here in good ol' Korea (by LG I believe). And like a lot of things, the manufacturers take the exact same panel and use it in more than one brand - but you pay a lot more for the brand with the big name.
I have no idea if that's the case with the HCT brand. But do your homework and find out where and by which company the panel is manufactured and buy the brand that sells it for the best price. The manufacturer's reps at the PX are generally very knowledgeable...but they are there to represent their manufacturer, so naturally, they try to sell you the brand they represent. But if you press them for info, you can usually find out where and by who the panel is manufactured, and they might even be straight with you and tell you that you can buy the BIG name brand 42" for $2,000 or get the lesser name brand "42 - with the exact same plasma screen - for $1,500. |
