There are already way too many guns in the US to do anything about it. Even if I believed in gun control, it's impractical. But, I'm from Texas, and in Texas "gun control" means hitting what you aim at!
The old saying is true. "If guns were criminalized, then only criminals would have guns." I don't want to live anyplace where the criminals are armed to the teeth and I'm not. No thanks. |

for SHSong:
Shsong: Immigrants built America. The first apparently came across the Aleutian land mass from Asia. They brought bows and arrows and hand weapons. We erroniously called them Indians, and still do. Later Immigrants came from Europe. They brought guns, both to slaughter animals for food and pelts, and to protect themselves from vicious animals. They also used guns to kill the poor Indians who tried their best to defend the territory the Europeans took from them. America, [Mi Gook (미 극)], is a beautiful country, but the true history is not so beautiful. Guns are so much a part of America that it will always be so. I'm not saying it is the best way to go, but perhaps without the experience of growing up with guns and my mountaineer heritage of hunting deer and smaller game for food as I was growing up, my family might not have survived as well.
To return to the point-there is NO problem with guns used for good purposes. The problem in this particular schoolboy's case apppears to be a PEOPLE PROBLEM. Friends knew he had talked about killing himself and they DID NOT TELL SOMEONE WHO COULD HELP HIM! He did cause his own death by pointing a "Gun" at someone else. A sad story, but it is really about "Love thy neighbor as yourself, for the love of Me", not about guns. |

Hold up...now I get it.
I saw this news clip on the Korean news (SBS). It must have lasted about a minute. From what I gathered, it quickly just went through the event like a child brought a toy gun, painted it to look real, and as a prank, waved it around, pointing it at his "friends", then the cops came and told him to put it down, then blasted him away. In short, they made it look like an innocent kid who just brought a toy gun was shot down by police. There were hardly any more details.
The overall impression I got from watching the Korean clip was they were sort of hinting how ruthless people in the United States were. "Look at these mean, crazy Americans shooting at kids with toy guns!" Maybe that is why our friend, shsong21, is asking us why the police were so rash and did not understand why it was necessary to gun the kid down. |
