Cool Re: Do you know English Village ?

Welcome home, Bubba! The winter is about over (I hope), and we are ready for spring. I know you will miss Inchon, but a new school will be fun, too!
We'll get together soon and talk about the Mountain State!

If we are talking about the same place, English Village is open for business. I was up there last fall during a group motorcycle ride. They have a wide variety of restaurants and shops all of which conduct business in English. There are also activities for the kids most of which are conducted by English teachers who come mainly from Canada, the USA and other English speaking countries. The place I am talking about is located not too far from Imjingak or the Aqualand Spa. Is this the same location you mentioned?

Re: Do you know English Village ?

Gyeonggi English Village at Paju (for you google earthers, just steer a course for 37.785102°N by 126.703851°E) is where I'm going to be living and working for the next year. My passport has been delivered to the Korean Embassy in Washington, waiting to be stamped with my work visa and SASE'd back to me, so I'm between 72 hours and 4 months of getting on a plane!
The place (1.45 miles from the bad border out in the middle of the river!) has a great website at http://english-village.gg.go.kr/eng/...t/overview.jsp
and it looks like and they even have their own stonehenge! Maybe we can have a concert by Spinal Tap!
Its right across the street from the Heyri Art village that seems like a cool place to visit to see, hear and do things!

The EV has several programs in addition to the week long visits by middle schoolers. The do teacher training, have stay at home moms visit with their toddlers, teach the Korean Military on the surrounding bases and even had Judges visit to brush up on their English skills! (That would probably be some usefull business cards to have in your BCC (Business Card Caddy!))

I can't wait to get back there and start making money instead of spending it here!

Re: Do you know English Village ?

English village Paju campu, that place is very good for korean people.
But I don't go to there since when i had visited under construction.
I'd like to visit there again soon. that place is very close to my home and it will takes time about 40 minutes by car.
English village programe very good idea but there's no a programe for an adult there. right ?
Most of programe is only for kids.
English village programe is one of Korea's globalization programe and Korean gov make an investment in there by the taxes of the people.

Thumbs up Re: Do you know English Village ?

I'll be there this Thursday! I get on the plane in 14 hours and 45 minutes!

As far as adult programs, They have a program to teach soldiers at surrounding bases, some judges have visited to brush up on their English skills and they are developing a program for businessmen. It is an immersion program so anytime spent there will help with your English skills!

PM me here if you decide to visit on a weekend and we'll meet and have a few beers and talk!

yeah....I hope so but one of most important, Most of korean has no opportunity use their english for foreigner outside English village.
So, they will forget soon their english. I think that we have to meet with foreinger everyday, and then our english will improve.
However, It's not easy.
