Korean Slugger's Bat Goes to MLB Hall of Fame

Looks like the Koreans have made an impact. The only way the Cuban players will play in the U.S. is if they defect.

Quote:
The World Baseball Classic was the stage making the name Lee Seung-yeop known to worldwide audiences. The 30-year old was tipped as a strong MLB candidate by the U.S. sports channel ESPN, and in a rare honor the bat Lee used will be displayed at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. ESPN online ranked Lee fourth in its selection of the five most likely MLB candidates.

The other four picked by columnist Garry Gillette were Yulieski Gourriel (22) of Cuba, Matsuzaka Daisuke (26) of Japan, Cuba's Pedro Luis Lazo and Akinori Iwamura (27). He dubbed them "more than capable of playing in Major League Baseball if given a shot" after their WBC performance attracted the eyes of MLB recruiters.

The request for Lee's bat from the Hall of Fame for exhibition is a promising moment for Korean baseball. Insiders with the Korean Baseball Organization said the Hall of Fame plans to set up a WBC exhibition hall after collecting some of the possessions of players at the end of this year. They asked for Lee Seung-yeop's bat and Lee Jin-young's hat. Lee Seung-yeop donated the bat with which he hit a solo homerun off a pitch from Dontrelle Willis in the first inning of the game against the U.S. on March 14.

That's great! Korea makes history; something Koreans can be proud of.

BTW, that photo of Lee, Seung Yeop...coincidence or was he joking around and making an obscene gesture to one of his teammates?

이승엽: "...야! 이거 뭐같이 생겼냐?!"
